AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A traveling memorial meant to honor veterans of the war on terror made its way to the Canfield Fair on Tuesday.
The wall stopped in Austintown, where It was joined by an honor guard of motorcycling veterans. It will be on display, along with the veterans memorial, at the Canfield Fair.
Four motorcycle officers from the Youngstown Police Department and a cruiser from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office joined the procession that started at Los Gallos Mexican Restaurant near the state Route 46 and Interstate 80 intersection.
“I am a Vietnam veteran myself. And we were shunned for a good number of years. And I think it’s time we show the younger men and women who are serving our great nation that we do appreciate what they do and that we want them to become a part of us and our organizations when they return. Today is an inaugural run to bring the wall in and get it set up and ready for the fair,” veteran advocate JP Brown III said.
About two dozen motorcyclists escorted the memorial up Route 46 to the fairgrounds.
