Canfield Fair kicks off

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Although the Canfield Fair does not officially open until Thursday, there were lots of things going on Wednesday.

The event kicked off with a cheerleading demonstration featuring 13 Valley high schools. Most fair-goers said they were looking forward to the rides and games. But the big thing some look forward to all year long is the food.

“I like fried cookie dough, which is terrible for you, but I love it and you can only get it at the fair,” Lindsay Davis said.

The judging competitions also began Wednesday, with mini-horses and ponies being judged.

The fair runs through Labor Day, with the gates opening each day at 8 a.m. and closing at 11 p.m.

Thursday is the official first day of the fair, marked by a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.

For those who have been to the fair before, you know figuring out where to park is a top priority, along with remembering where you left your vehicle.

There is now an app for that.

If you have a smart phone, you can download the Canfield Fair app, which contains a schedule of events, as well as maps showing entrance gates, restrooms and even vendors.

It will also show you where your car or truck is parked on the fairgrounds and directions for getting back to it.
