Replacement named for Judge Evans

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WKBN) – Ohio Governor John Kasich announced Wednesday that Shirley Christian will replace James Evans as the judge at the Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas, according to a press release from the governor’s office.

Evans is set to retire Oct. 1. Christian will take over Oct. 2 and must run for office in November 2016 to retain the seat for a full term which would start on Jan. 1, 2017.

Christian received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from Edinboro University and her juris doctorate with distinction from Ohio Northern University.

Christian is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and has served on its Board of Governors and is currently a Trustee for the Mahoning County Bar Association. She currently serves as the board secretary for the Catholic Charities Housing Opportunities Board.
