Trumbull commissioners tap 2 for Port Authority

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) –  The Western Reserve Port Authority is almost back up to full strength.

Trumbull County commissioners on Wednesday appointed to the board Sam Covelli, owner/operator of Covelli Enterprises, and attorney David Detec.

The two fill posts left open after members resigned earlier this year. At the time, it was thought that a lack of members might mean the board would dissolve.

Commissioner Frank Fuda said they are very happy with the men they picked.

“Both candidates did say they don’t just want to be board members, they want to participate. They want to be team members. They want to make the Mahoning Valley a better place in which to live,” Fuda said.

The eight-person board helps with economic development. It also oversees operations at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.

There is one vacancy left to fill.
