Accident blocks traffic near Canfield Fair

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Canfield Police responded to a three-car accident Thursday morning just before the opening ceremony of the Canfield Fair.

The accident happened on Route 46 in front of Gate 9 of the Canfield Fair and backed up traffic in both directions on Route 46. Traffic is now moving normally on the street.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, the accident happened when one car stopped or slowed and was rear-ended by another vehicle, pushing it into a third vehicle.

The accident closed Route 46 between between Fairground Boulevard and Leffingwell Road for about 45 minutes.

Emergency workers took two people to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to OSHP workers.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m. and involved two cars and a pickup truck. The fair’s opening ceremony began at 10 a.m.
