Ribbon cutting on Canfield Fair

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – The ribbon was cut Thursday morning on the 168th Canfield Fair.

A ceremony was held at 10 a.m. at the Canfield Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds have been open for a few days, but Thursday marked the official start of the five-day event.

Mahoning County commissioners held their weekly meeting Thursday morning in Canfield in recognition of the fair in and the role agriculture plays in the area.

The Board met inside the Ohio State Cooperative Extension offices on state Route-46, right across from the main gate to the fairgrounds. Commissioners, and several in the crowd, praised the programs and support workers with the Extension Service provide to the community as well as local farmers in the region.

The fair is open 8 a.m. until 11 p.m. through Labor Day.
