Turn the Town Teal hits Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Parts of Youngstown and Warren got a splash of color on Saturday.

Specifically, that color was teal.

In order to raise awareness, members of the Rose Mary Flanagan Ovarian Cancer Foundation took part in the annual Turn the Town Teal event that included tying teal ribbons to trees, lamp and light posts around the downtown of both cities.

“That’s why we’re trying to get women to know the symptoms. Because if they are aware of their bodies, they know they can get diagnosed earlier and survive the cancer,” said Flanagan.

The Warren Junior Women’s League helped out.

Upcoming awareness events include a Wear Teal Day on Sept. 5 and Yoga for a Cure on the 14.
