BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (AP) – Fire officials say an explosion and fire destroyed a house in southwestern Ohio. No injuries were reported.

Battalion Chief Nathan Hiester (HEES’-tuhr) with the Beavercreek Township Fire Department says several residents in Beavercreek and Xenia called 911 after hearing the explosion between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

Fire officials say the cause was not immediately known and remains under investigation.

The Dayton Daily News and WHIO-TV report that the house was already destroyed and burning when crews arrived. He says it took about an hour and a half to get the fire under control.

Hiester says the people who lived in the rented house were away on vacation and have been notified.
