Bridge of Hope church hosts tailgate party for fans

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) — Church and football – two fall Sunday staples.

Sunday, a Boardman church blended the two together with a Browns -Steelers tailgate.

There was plenty of orange and brown and black and gold at the Bridge of Hope church. Pastor Doug Reed is new to the area and learned right away you’re either a Steelers or Browns fan. He stayed neutral for this match up.

“I told them I couldn’t do that, I’m originally from outside of Philadelphia so I’m an Eagles fan, but I have converted to an Ohio State. I said I’d do that out of pastoral obligation so, we had a tough one yesterday,” said Reed.

This is the first time the church held a football tailgate.

The Boardman High School marching band was on hand to help get the fans pepped up.
