Campbell PD officer let go for ‘poor choices’

CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Campbell Police announced the firing of Officer Russ Beatty III Friday, citing, “acts of misfeasance, malfeasance, misconduct, and conduct unbecoming a police officer,” according to a release from the Campbell mayor’s office.

A release from Campbell Police Chief Drew Rauzan stated that an investigation by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation “revealed some very poor choices made officer Beatty (sic).”

“Definitely no criminal activity found in the investigation whatsoever,” said Lieutenant John Rusnak, Campbell Police Department. “There were just some choices by the officer that led to the city to feel that he should no longer be employed here.”

Beatty III was serving as the Campbell School District Resource Officer last year before being pulled off that job.

The BCI investigation is still in progress.
