Arrest made in connection with Yo. tavern shooting

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown police have arrested a West Virginia man in connection with a fatal shooting that happened outside a south side tavern Aug. 28.

Police arrested Gordon Dale Davis Wednesday on a charge of obstructing justice, among others. A detective with the Youngstown Police Department said Davis gave them false information about himself when police questioned him the night of the shooting at Teenie’s Tavern on South Avenue in Youngstown.

Both Davis and victim Dale Garver, who died in the shooting, are from West Virginia, according to authorities.

Police believe Davis set up a drug deal, which led to Garver being shot. Police have not arrested a shooter in the case.

Witnesses said two men approached a vehicle in the parking lot and demanded money. When the person in the vehicle refused, guns were drawn and shots fired.

Garver was shot at least three times, twice in the arm and once in the stomach, according to reports.
