WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A large hornet nest has been removed from a vacant house on Hamilton Street S.W., but neighbors said there is more work to be done.
Megan Wilson’s children were not allowed to play outside for nearly three weeks because of the hornet nest next door. On Thursday, it was a different story.
“I mean, it’s gorgeous out today and finally we are able to come out and enjoy this,” Wilson said.
On Wednesday, an exterminator came out to get rid of the basketball size hornet nest. They then returned to spray another nest that was on the ground.
Neighbor Bruce Komray was stung several times and had to go to the hospital because of the nesting creatures. And although he is glad something is being done about the nest, he believes it is time for the house to go as well.
“Just something got to be done about it. Either tear it down or fix it,” Bruce Komray said.
Wilson could not agree more.
“We’re all trying to improve our homes and this is an eyesore,” she said.
The house is owned by Sunshine Inc. We tried contacting Sunshine Inc., but they were not able to get back to us.
As for Wilson and the rest of her community, they just want to see the kids playing in a safe environment.
“And I don’t want to be stuck in my home again,” Wilson said.
