3 hurt in PennDOT line-painting truck rollover

BEAVER, Pa. (AP) – Three Pennsylvania Department of Transportation workers were hurt after their line-painting truck rolled off the side of a rural western Pennsylvania road.

The driver told Brighton Township police that the edge of the road gave way as the truck was painting line about 1:15 p.m. Thursday. The crash occurred about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.

Investigators were trying to determine if the road failed or the truck simply got too close to the edge and toppled over a small embankment.

A worker operating the paint apparatus in the rear of the truck was covered in paint and injured so badly he was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital. Two others on the truck were treated at a nearby hospital and released.

Police and PennDOT have yet to release the workers’ names.
