Yo. fire investigator: Rigby fire was arson

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown Chief Fire Investigator Alvin Ware said that a fire early Monday morning on Rigby Street in Youngstown was an act of arson, considering details he and his crew found at the scene.

Ware said the gas and electricity supplies to the building, which used to be a supermarket, had been shut off. Ware said that investigators currently do not have any suspects in connection with the arson and that they are waiting to talk to the owner of the property.

Flames broke out about 4:30 a.m.at the site of the former grocery store at 1122 Rigby St. Flames and smoke from the burning structure could be seen for miles.

Crews did not enter the building because of safety concerns, letting it burn to the ground. Authorities said the building had been vacant for quite a while.
