East Palestine welcomes new fire chief

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio (WKBN) – The East Palestine Fire Department has a new chief.

Joshua Brown, 32, was sworn in during a ceremony at the village council meeting Monday night.

Brown replaces retiring Chief Brett Todd who served the department for 30 years.

Brown has spent the last 14 years in military service with the U.S. Army. Most recently, he was chief of a volunteer fire department at Fort Mitchell, Alabama.

Brown said he will spend the next few weeks getting acclimated with the department and staff.

“Getting to know each person and moving forward as a team,” Brown said.

Brown moved back the area from Alabama in August.
