Penn National releases preliminary numbers

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Last week’s grand opening for Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course was even better than anticipated, according to Penn National Gaming officials.

A spokesperson for Penn National, which owns the new racino in Austintown, confirmed more than 27,000 people passed through the facility last week between Wednesday morning when the doors first opened and 5 a.m. on Thursday.

Sources said that was the best opening the company has seen for any of its seven racino operations in Ohio. The local operation has just 850 video lottery terminals, which is the least of Penn National’s racinos in the state.

Actual revenue figures are to be released Oct. 7 when the Ohio Lottery reveals numbers for all of its gambling activities.
