Dreams come true for Columbiana County woman

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) — A Colombiana County woman with a rare condition received some help in her home on Saturday from a Pittsburgh group.

They’re called Jamie’s Dream Team and the founder wanted to help this woman because she too knows what it’s like to face an obstacle in life.

Brandy Babik of Lisbon has a rare condition called Chiari Malformation, her brain is sinking into her spine.

“The beautiful sounds of laughing and singing and all that stuff, it just hurts my head and it don’t sound to beautiful. It just sound pain to me,” said Babik.

Her symptoms make it impossible for her to take care of her home and family.

“Since I got sick it’s been hard to clean the house – pain over took the body; the headaches, every time I pick something up it just shoots down my spine,” explained Babik.

Between doctor visits and just trying to survive, she hasn’t been able to keep up with her house. On Saturday, however, she had some very special help.

“Her home was a home once and now she feels like she’s a prisoner in her own home. And I just want to make that change for her and make it a better place,” said Jamie Holmes, founder of Jamie’s Dream Team.

Holmes and her dream team heard Babik’s story a few days ago and came down from Pittsburgh to help; even though it was against Jamie’s doctors order.

“I was born with Vater’s Syndrome, I have had over 45 major operations and I’m very sick myself,” said Holmes.

As Brandy prepares for a risky operation later on this month, Jamie’s Dream Team hopes to be finished soon, but they need help.

“Building material, anything and everything that can possibly be able to get this home back together,” said Holmes.

Holmes said they need things such as new bedding and furniture to help out with the home, too.

Babik is grateful for everything they’ve done.

“It feels like it’s a gift from Heaven,” finished Babik.
