Cleveland officer stable after shooting

CLEVELAND (AP) – A Cleveland police officer is in stable condition after being shot in the chest early Saturday.

The Northeast Ohio Media Group reports ( ) the officer was wearing a bulletproof vest. A name has not been released.

The officer was responding to a call around 5 a.m. on the city’s east side when the shooting occurred and was taken to a nearby hospital.

Cleveland police and a SWAT unit remained at the scene.
