Teen provides vital information on diabetes

NEW MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — A Columbiana County teen spread the news about diabetes on Thursday evening.

Nicholas Workman, 14, of New Middletown, was diagnosed with diabetes at age 12. To inform his friends and teachers about the disease, he began the three mile Diabetes Awareness Walk at Springfield.

The walk was held Thursday at the Springfield Local High School Stadium.

“Even if you don’t know what diabetes is, just kind of participate in events that I’m holding and kind of keep spreading the word and maybe one day it’ll be stopped,” said Workman.

In addition to the walk, there was also a raffle and T-shirt sale. All money raised will be donated to the American Diabetes Association.
