YSU Homecoming week ends with parade

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A soggy afternoon didn’t keep Youngstown State University’s Homecoming Week from wrapping up with a parade.

The week-long celebration ended with its annual parade along Fifth Avenue and traveled to Stambaugh Stadium.

For some participants, the event was a perfect way to put their school pride to work.

“It is just a fun time, especially Greek organization, to get together and to be able to work together and make a float,” said student Melissa Charles.

The parade was the last in a number of events held over the past week including a benefit bocce tournament, picnic, various eating contests and a traditional homecoming bonfire.

The event was capped off by the Penguins game against Southern Illinois University.
