Bond lowered for Hubbard Twp. shooting death suspect

GIRARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Bond was reduced on Thursday for a Hubbard Township man who is accused of killing his best friend, with both families calling it a terrible accident.

Wesley Williams waived his right to a preliminary hearing in Girard Municipal Court Thursday morning. According to the family, Wesley Williams and Scott Williams were at Wesley’s brothers house last week looking at a gun when it went off and hit Scott Williams in the head.

The judge lowered Wesley Williams’ bond from $250,000 to $100,000. The victim’s mother said the two were like brothers and she forgives Williams and believes it was just a tragic accident.

“Hopefully he will be able to come home on house arrest and then I can go see him and if he wants to. If I go talk to a counselor and he can go with me, it will be great,” Patty Williams, Scott Williams’ mother, said.

As Wesley Williams left the courtroom, he told everyone he was sorry for what happened. His case now goes to the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court for consideration by the grand jury.
