Bond set for Warren murder suspect

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Bond was set at $500,000 on Thursday for a Warren man charged in connection to an August murder.

David Blackmon, 47,  was arraigned Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court after being arrested Wednesday. Police said he shot and killed Mitchell Pruitt, 50, at his home on Deerfield Avenue S.W. Aug. 5.

Police found Pruitt’s body lying on the kitchen floor of 1570 Deerfield Ave. S.W. about 2:30 a.m. Reports stated a neighbor had knocked on the door earlier and when there was no answer, found Pruitt inside the house. The woman called police, who confirmed that someone shot Pruitt multiple times.

Police sought information from the public to help solve the crime. It is believed the murder was drug-related, but a motive has not yet been released.
