WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – An injured stray dog found in Warren last week is doing much better.
The brown pit bull, which is now named Frank, suffered severe lacerations to his neck and had surgery to repair the damage at the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. The dog was found running loose on Deerfield Avenue S.W. nearly two weeks ago and was captured by a neighbor, who is an animal angel.
Frank had a wire collar around its neck that caused several deep lacerations.
“I would expect when he does go up for adoption, he will need a very special home that understands what he has been through and do some after care. May not be the best dog with other dogs. We will just have to wait and see how that goes. But he has been real sweet with the staff,” Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County Executive Director Kerry Pettite said.
Pettite said it is still going to be at least a couple weeks before Frank is healed up and ready to be adopted.
