YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Thursday, the Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care is hosting their annual Project Connect.
The Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care organization has been hosting Project Connect for 14 years and says this is their way of pointing folks who are homeless, under-employed, and poverty-stricken toward services that could help them.
Group Director Angie Paramore said that bringing city-wide agencies together to reach the community.
Participating agencies including Humility of Mary Health Partners, Youngstown City Schools, the health department, and Community Legal Aid were all there, providing information, blood screenings, flu shots, and haircuts all for free.
“It’s kinda like one stop shopping,” Paramore said. “We just want to make sure that you know on this particular day that they are aware that services are available to them and that they can come and actually get the help that, and the assistance that, they need.”
They expect anywhere from 100 to 150 people to attend this year’s event.
The event runs until two o’clock Thursday afternoon at the Rescue Mission’s Distribution Center on Glenwood Avenue.
