Police investigate south side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Youngstown police are investigating a fatal shooting on the south side..

Police were called to the Oak Ridge Apartments at 838 E. Midlothian Blvd. behind Subway about 9:30 p.m. for a report of a fight involving four people.

According to a police report, Cory Cracraft, 27, of 541 E. Avondale Ave., was at the Oak Ridge Apartments in violation of a protection order that was filed by a woman that lives there. Surveillance video shows Cracaft milling about the apartment when a man identified as Daniel Biddle, 31, also of the same address, approached the entrance. Another man identified as Donald Hunt, 34, who also lives in the apartment, opened the door to let Biddle in when Cracraft attacked Biddle with a knife and broken bottle, according to the report.

Hunt stated in the police report that he fired one shot from a handgun he was carrying. A few seconds later, Biddle fired a shot from a handgun he was carrying. Police confirmed that Biddle has a valid CCW permit.

Cracraft was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center with a gunshot wound to the chest and arm.He died Tuesday morning. Biddle was treated at the hospital for a cut above his eye.

The woman said she had received text messages from Cracraft earlier in the evening stating he was coming over to fight Hunt.

No arrests have been made.
