YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A man accused of driving a stolen van while drunk and then crashing on a Salem golf course last month was indicted Thursday by a Mahoning County grand jury.
Cody Spahr, 23, was indicted on charges of vandalism, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and driving under the influence. He is being held at the Mahoning County Jail pending his arraignment on Friday.
According to a police report, two witnesses said they saw Spahr take off running while removing his clothes after crashing the van at Salem Hills Golf and Country Club on Sept. 8. Soon after, a woman who lived in the area called police and told them she saw Spahr walking in the area of her residence.
Police later tracked Spahr down and arrested him, saying he failed field sobriety tests, according to the report.
Salem Police Lt. Don Beeson said at the time that Spahr stole the vehicle from a music store in Salem after the store’s owner left it behind his shop.
