Milliken re-elected Columbiana County auditor

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – Republican Nancy Gause Milliken easily won a fourth term as Columbiana County auditor, defeating Democrat Brandon Kovach by a margin of 74 to 26 percent, according to complete but unofficial results from the Columbiana County Board of Elections.

Kovach, 23, is a University of Akron student who moved to Lisbon from Austintown last month.

“We are totally for the citizens of this county. I just feel that some of the negative comments that were made about myself and my family was uncalled for. It was just a very, very dirty campaign,” Milliken said.

Milliken had been accused of campaign violations by former county employee Brian Fullum, who was supporting Kovach in the race. Last week, the Ohio Elections Commission tossed out the complaint, saying it found no violation.

A heated debate between Milliken and Kovach was the highlight of a candidates forum last month at David Anderson High School, where Kovach questioned Milliken’s competence and Milliken questioned Kovach’s experience.
