Adoption day held at Mahoning County Court

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — November is National Adoption Month and to recognize it, Mahoning County Probate Court held a special celebration on Monday.

There was a crowd of people who watched, as Judge Robert Rusu finalized the adoptions of two young girls.

Randy Muth of Mahoning County Children Services said they hoped the event will bring attention to helping kids get forever homes.

“When we can’t reuinify children with their biological families, there has to be some place from them to go. The need for adoptive parents and foster parents is so great in this county and it’s sadly only going to get worse,” said Muth.

In Mahoning County, there are 45 children in need of adoption.

Statewide, there’s more than 2,700.
