AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A number of cars were damaged over the weekend in Austintown, according to police.
Some cars were scratched, some had paint on them and one had obscenities written on it.
Officers were called to 3876 Burkey Road about 1 p.m. Saturday, where the victim said he came outside and his two right tires on his black 1990 Chevrolet 1500 were flat. He refilled the tires, noting that someone just let the air out but did not damage the tires, the report states.
He then noticed the left front tire of his 2004 Chrysler Sebring was low on air and as he was filling it, he noticed a small cut on the sidewall of the tire. The victim told police he thought the damage to his car was done about 2 a.m. because he noticed his dogs barking at that time, but when he went out to check, no one was there, the report states.
A second report was taken about 1 p.m. Sunday. The victims told police that sometime between 11:30 p.m. and midnight, someone damaged their car in the parking lot of 2230 S. Raccoon Road by pouring an unknown waxy substance on it, the report states.
The waxy substance was used to write an obscenity and police told the victims there were other incidents in the same area.
Another report was taken around the same time at the Westchester Square apartment complex, where the victim said someone poured a waxy substance on his car and after washing it off, he found scratches and paint damage.
A woman in the same complex reported around noon on Sunday that her 2013 Fiat had paint on it and it also was damaged.
Police are still investigating.
