WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Several people in Warren are expected to face drug and gun charges after police raided two homes in the city early Tuesday morning.
Armed with search warrants, Warren police raided homes on Woodbine Avenue S.E. Atlantic Street N.E. around 9 a.m.
“Both of the residences, through the investigation it was determined that they are related, so they served both of these one right after the other,” Warren Police Chief Eric Merkel said.
Inside the homes, police found a cache of weapons and cash, as well as what they suspect is crack cocaine and heroin. Charges are pending against five people following the outcome of lab tests on the suspected drugs.
The raids were conducted by the street crimes unit after a five-month investigation.
Merkel said neighbor complaints over drug activity in those neighborhoods is what sparked the investigation, which has helped in their department’s war on drugs.
“Any gun we can get off the street, especially when they are involved in the narcotics trade, it is a win for the city and especially when you can take this many off at one time, it is definitely going to make an impact,” Merkel said.
Merkel encourages others in the city to call the street crimes unit at 330-841-2658 to report illegal activity to see more results like this.
