BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – It will be another couple of days before police can confirm whether the substance mailed to a local office supply business was really hazardous or just a prank.
Workers say someone sent an envelope last week containing a white, powdery material to American Business Center on South Avenue.
At least two employees had direct contact with the powder and had to go through a decontamination process before being taken to the hospital for observation.
Boardman Fire Chief Mark Pitzer said experts are still waiting on lab results to determine exactly what the powder was.
“The FBI is still analyzing the substance and results should be here on Thursday,” said Pitzer. “A little bit of a delay in response in this of what the substance is, but hopefully by Thursday morning we will have what the substance was.”
Pitzer said no one at the business has come down with any health issues because of the powder.
Initially, workers told authorities a disgruntled former employee may be responsible, but no charges have been filed.
