Snow could lead to rush for salt in Valley

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – First News checked in with the Home Depot in Boardman to see if they saw a rush for salt, now that snow has begun to fall.

Store employees said that when the snow started falling, customers showed up ready to buy shovels and snow blowers.

They sold out of the small ones, but another delivery arrived by the days end. Salt was another hot item.

Salt became hard to find at the end of last winter, and WKBN asked if it’s going to be the same situation this year.

“It’s going to be a little shortage this year, so if you’re going to get the salt, come out and get it now,” Tim Hephner of Boardman Home Depot said. “Because we do have a bunch of it here, but it’s going to be kind of sort of run out by the end of the year again.”

While we were at the store, one customer loaded up three bags of salt.

He said it will get him through the winter.
