Police at Wellsville HS after security concern

WELLSVILLE, Ohio (WKBN) – Students and staff arriving to school this morning at Wellsville High School were greeted by police.

Superintendent Richard Bereschik told WKBN that it was a precaution due to comments made over the weekend on social media.

No threats were made directly to the school, but the comments did involve students.

Two officers from Wellsville used a security wand on every student and employee who entered the building. Officials said nothing suspicious was found.

Parents will receive a letter detailing what actions were taken at the school.

Bereschik said the decision to call police was a “precautionary measure to insure every child’s safety”

The high school where students were searched is located at 1 Bengal Blvd. in Wellsville.
