Arrest made in Hubbard Twp. Flying J robbery

HUBBARD TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKBN) – Authorities made an arrest Friday in connection with a robbery at the Flying J Travel Plaza in Hubbard Township Saturday night, according to a press release from Hubbard Township Police.

Gary A. Ambrose, 38, of Everett East Road, Hubbard, surrendered himself Friday morning at Girard Municipal Court accompanied by his legal counsel. He was arrested and arraigned on one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony.

A court set bond for Ambrose at $100,000 and he was transported to the Trumbull County Jail.

A preliminary hearing has been set for 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Girard Municipal Court.

Authorities said Ambrose returned most of the money he took.

Police told reporter Jeff Levkulich that the media’s initial report on the robbery contributed to him turning himself in.
