Reema’s murder suspect indicted

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – On Thursday, Mahoning County court officials announced a grand jury indictment of Larry McDonald, suspected of shooting and killing 29-year-old Abdullah Mahdi in a Reema’s Fashion store on the south side of Youngstown on Nov. 19.

McDonald is facing charges of aggravated murder, murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault and carrying a concealed weapon.

On Nov. 19, a man walked into Reema’s Fashion in the Crim’s Corner plaza on South Avenue and said he was shopping for clothes. At some point, Mahdi, who was the owner of the store, and the robber exchanged gunfire.

The robber, later identified as McDonald, was shot several times and was tackled to the ground by a customer inside the store, police said. Mahdi was killed after being shot in the head.
