YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — Santa took some time out of his busy schedule to team up with support group Ohio Can and give back to folks in need.
The group handed out what they call “hope Bags” in downtown Youngstown to folks in need. Each bag contained things to help those who are less fortunate or even homeless make it through the cold winter months. The group hopes the bags will make a difference by helping folks make it through the cold winter months, and showing them they aren’t alone.
“To some people these bags are nothing but to others, this is a bag of hope. There’s food in them, warm blankets, and gloves and hats,” said Brenda Hamilton, Ohio Can Organizer.
The bags also contained personal hygiene items like tooth brushes, mouth wash, and sanitary wipes. The group says most of the items in the “hope bags” were donated. They had 96 bags to hand out this year and hope to increase that number to 200 next year.
