BUFFALO, New York (CNN) – A police officer in Buffalo, New York is caught on camera by a t-v news camera person hitting a man with a baton early thanksgiving day.
Now, that officer is off the job and suspended without pay.
Night stick in hand, officer Corey Krug storms down Chippewa Street early Thanksgiving morning confronting a man about to get into a fight. But the confrontation quickly turned physical.
Other officers rush over as Krug tells the man on the ground to get up. He winds up and swings his baton again.
The officer swings at least twice more before this.
Those other officers are telling officer Krug he is being recorded on camera.
A local TV camera operator was following police officers on the job when he saw officer Krug hitting the man and then letting him walk away.
The Buffalo Police Department is also doing an investigation into the incident.
“I really can’t comment on an internal investigation,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Dan Derenda said. “What I will say is as it has shown, this administration takes inappropriate behavior very seriously and appropriate action was taken in each and every case.”
