Salem PD find counterfeit money, looking for person of interest

SALEM, Ohio (WKBN) – Salem Police are looking for a person of interest Friday in connection with a recent string of discoveries of counterfeit money at Salem businesses.

Circle K, Great Clips, and Gene’s Drive-Thru, all on East State Street in Salem, have reported receiving the money, according to WKBN’s print partner The Salem News.

Most of the bills have been twenties, tens and fives, according to police.

Police said surveillance footage from Circle K showed a male, believed to be in his 20s, who paid with one of the counterfeit bills. Police are describing the male as a person of interest, not a suspect.

Police want store clerks in the area to monitor cash they receive for fakes.
