2 shot outside Youngstown bar, man in custody

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A suspect is behind bars and two people are recovering from gunshot wounds after a shooting overnight at a bar in Youngstown.

According to a police report, a car was riddled with gunfire as it pulled into the parking lot of Mi Raza bar on Oak Street.

Lucila Bonilla, who was in the backseat, was hit in the bicep. Two males in the vehicle identified as Dennis Viera, Jr. and Edwin Cardona were not injured.

Another man, Dennis Viera, Sr. was in the parking lot at the time and was shot in the chest.

Viera, Jr. and Cordona identified Bonilla’s shooter as Juan Gabriel Baez Rodriguez, 23, of Youngstown. A witness who drove Viera, Sr. to the hospital told police he did not see who shot Viera, Sr.

Both victims are in stable condition.

Rodriguez was arrested and charged with three counts of felonious assault. He is being held at the Mahoning County Jail.
