TNP says it had ‘outstanding’ year

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Officials with the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership said the agency had an outstanding 2014 and they are looking forward to new projects this year.

More than $3 milion in federal grant money has been used to tear down vacant homes to help boost property values. Two-hundred properties were put to productive use and TNP sold 175 lots for neighbors to expand their yards where a vacant house once stood.

“Sold about 50 houses as is. We sold about five move-in ready houses that we renovated. We demolished almost 100 houses this year, so it has been a huge year,” Matt Martin of TNP said.

Work on restoring the Hughes Mansion starts this year. It will be used for housing for veterans.

“As our inventory of properties increases and the quality of property in the inventory increases and our capacity to put people in homes becomes more robust, I think the sky is the limit,” Martin said.
