Two arrested after short standoff in Warren

Warren, Ohio standoff leads to arrests

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Two men are awaiting arraignment after a short standoff in Warren early New Year’s Day.

Police were called to the 100 block of Logan Avenue where two men were firing their guns outside in celebration of the new year. When police arrived, the men ran.

One of the men was caught, detained and released while the other ducked into a nearby house. Police attempted to enter the house, but the suspect would not let them in.

There were five children and two dogs inside the house. Police obtained a search warrant and cleared the house before they entered. The man surrendered without incident.

Inside the house, officers found another person hiding who was arrested on an unrelated warrant.

Justin Shawn Del Cruz, 20, of Woodview Avenue S.W., was charged with aggravated menacing of a police officer, having weapons while under disability and discharging firearms within city limits.

Anthony Scott, 20, of Logan Avenue S.E., was charged with obstructing official business.
