ECONOMY, Pa. (WKBN) – Economy Police issued a press release Wednesday asking for help in identifying a woman whose head was found off of a road in the small Pennsylvania borough in December.

Authorities do not believe the case is a homicide, since the woman’s head was found embalmed. Police do not know how long the woman had been dead.

Embalming is the process of preserving human remains.

According to Economy Borough Police Chief Michael O’Brien, the department wants to expand their search for help into new areas, including Youngstown, but has no specific reason to believe the woman is tied to the Youngstown area.

Police received two calls regarding the case from Ohio: One from Dayton, the other from East Liverpool, O’Brien said.

A person walking along Mason Road in Economy, Pa., found the head, according to the release.
