Sharon honors police, E.M.T.s for saving Santa

Officers and EMTs were honored for Saving Santa in Sharon, Pennsylvania

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) – Sharon City Council recognized nine people for helping to “Save Santa.”

Last month, Jim Flickinger was playing Santa at the Fraternal Order of Police Christmas party when he collapsed and stopped breathing.

The nine people, including paramedics and police officers, took turns doing CPR and kept Jim alive until he could be transported to the hospital.

“Just good to see the smile on their faces, and I hope they enjoy seeing the smile on mine because if it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be here,” Flickinger said.

Sharon City Council dedicated one day in January to each of the nine people who provided Flickinger with first aid.

Flickinger said he will be back again to play Santa Claus for the police Christmas party in December.
