WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Warren man who pleaded guilty last month to pimping out a 17-year-old girl was sentenced Thursday morning in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Michael Kollat pleaded guilty last month to charges of compelling prostitution and promoting prostitution. He was sentenced to five years probation.
Prosecutors said Kollat and the girl, who was arrested and charged into juvenile court June 6, used the Internet and other means to recruit customers who were serviced at times out of the Capri Motel in Howland or the Cottage Motel in Niles.
The girl has since become 18 years old, but was a minor during the time frame spelled out in the indictments, March 14 to June 6.
Assistant Trumbull County prosecutor Gabe Wildman said the teenage girl remains uncooperative, but agents with Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force also seized her cell phone that apparently contained communications with Kollat.
The intimidation charge against Kollat stems from a confrontation or threat against a witness/customer at one of the motels used in the scheme.
