Crash in Youngstown utility pole hit

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A chain-reaction accident involving a car hitting a utility pole in Youngstown Monday morning temporarily closed an exit of the Madison Ave. Expressway.

According to Youngstown Police at the scene, the accident involved four cars. A Jeep Liberty slid off the road and hit the pole due to icy conditions, while the other three crashed trying to avoid hitting one another. The car that hit the pole exposed bare wires, causing a safety issue for firefighters.

The accident closed an entrance ramp from the Madison Ave. Expressway onto U.S. Route 422 but has since been re-opened. A Youngstown Police Department dispatcher said that no one was seriously hurt in the action.

Police reported at least six accidents in total Monday morning.
