Lisbon debates starting school year earlier

LISBON, Ohio (WKBN) – The Lisbon school board’s plan to move the start of the school year up, is gathering lots of interest from the village.

According to WKBN news partner The Morning Journal, several people showed up at a special board meeting last week, required by state law to seek public input before the new school calendar can be adopted.

Those backing the plan have proposed that the 2015-16 school year should begin August 17th.

Lisbon’s superintendent said the early start will get help get the first semester done by Christmas break.

The current school year for Lisbon students started August 25th.
