Officials say man, woman died in house fire in SW Ohio

CINCINNATI (AP) – A fire official says the bodies of a man and a woman who died in a house fire have been recovered from the remains of their southwestern Ohio home.

Lt. Mike Nie of the Green Township Fire Department said Sunday that authorities have not yet released the names of the couple who died in the blaze at their suburban Cincinnati home.

Nie said the two-story home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived shortly after receiving a call around 9 p.m. Friday. Nie says firefighters couldn’t enter the house because it was already collapsing.

He says one body was recovered Friday night, but the second wasn’t found until Saturday afternoon.

Nie says officials have determined that wood stored too close to a wood stove in the basement led to the fire.
