Kinsman sewer project more over-budget than first anticipated

KINSMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Last month it was announced that the Kinsman Sewer project was over-budget by a million dollars.

Friday, WKBN learned that the contractor in charge is asking Trumbull County for more money to complete the project.

Marucci and Gaffney Excavating of Youngstown has submitted to County commissioners what’s called a “Compensable Time Extension Claim” in the amount of nearly $447,000.

According to the claim, Marucci and Gaffney officials say they could have completed the project on time, but because of numerous delays on the part of the Trumbull County sanitary engineer and MS Consultants, along with additional work and changed work have prevented them.

Trumbull County officials said they could not comment on the claim until they have a chance to review it.

WKBN has also obtained a copy of the full report on what the company is seeking.
