McKinley Club hosts 100th banquet

100th mckinley dinner held in Niles

NILES, Ohio (WKBN) – The Mahoning Valley McKinley Club hosted its 100th annual McKinley Banquet tonight in Niles.

Dozens of people from Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties were on hand to honor President William McKinley, who was born January 29, 1843, in Niles.

The event is also a way to shine a light on the work that goes into maintaining the 25th president’s legacy.

“The purpose of this is to not only honor McKinley, but to honor this beautiful museum and library that is established in his name,” Mahoning Valley McKinley Club member Donna Becker said.

The museum maintains, preserves and exhibits documents and memorabilia from McKinley’s political and personal life.¬†Congressman Bill Johnson was the keynote speaker at the banquet.

McKinley was assassinated in 1901 in Buffalo.
