Rotary Club of Youngstown celebrates 100 years

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – For the next few months, the history of the Rotary Club of Youngstown will be on display at the Tyler History Center.

One of key items on display is the Rotary Club’s traveling trophy that was given annually from 1942 to 1981 to the City Series Football Champs. The club is still committed to community service.

“We do project such as Put Kids First with Harding Elementary students, we mentor them, help them with their homework, reading, some math whatever they need help with,” Rotary Club President Paul Garchar said. “We have operation warm, we purchase coats for kids that are in need.”

From 1915 to 1980, the Rotary Club of Youngstown met at the Ohio Hotel. Then it moved to the YMCA , then the Youngstown Club, and is now back at the YMCA, meeting every Wednesday at noon.
